This usually attributes to his laid back personality, often seen as being oblivious to most things going on around him. He has long, jet black hair tied up into a spiked ponytail and brown eyes. In each ear he has studs, one of which is similar to that which Asuma gave him. His attire is as standard as it comes for Konoha shinobi. Slack pants, sandals, a long sleeved shirt and a green flak jacket over it. Underneath his shirt is a fishnet mesh which reaches down to his wrists. The village symbol is in the form of a metal plate attatched to his arm. Getting out of bed is troublesome. Women are troublesome. Travelling is troublesome. Even thinking can be troublesome. There are many things which require him to put in more effort than he would like to, thus he often remarks that such things are a waste. He tries to avoid conflicts and fights where he can, though not necessarily in a pacifistic sense, more so that he just can't be bothered dealing with it. Shikamaru knows that he acts like this and even declared himself the, "Number One Coward" and "Number one at running away". Despite his lack of bravery and self-belief, Shikamaru upholds a strong sense of willpower and natural leadership abilities. From the moment he became a Chuunin to the death of his sensei Asuma, Shikamaru has matured well beyond his years and tries to put his own problems behind him in order to serve the village and protect his comrades. This may all come as a surprise, given that Shikamaru is a genius with an IQ of over two-hundred, it's hard to believe the smaller things than life that he finds quite annoying. His thought process consists of forming both of his hands into a circle, which allows him to concentrate.
