Some state that the ancestor of that clan made a deal with the shinigami, removing his eyes so that he'd be able to hear everyone so no plots would be made against him. Another story says the Rikudo Sennin came back to life blind, already having given his eyes to the world. Neither of these stories were true however, the true becoming of the clan much simpler then that. it all ties into a rare genetic defect within one family. A recessive trait within the Minamoto's ancestors, more and more children were being born blind. As farmers within the and of Earth, this was a huge problem as their farms would go untaken care of by the next generation. |
