B.: July 3rd ★ H E I G H T: 5 feet and 8 inches ★ W E I G H T: 115 lbs ★ A P P E A R A N C E: The first thing anyone will notice about Neji is his trademark white eyes, a trait of all those in the Hyuuga clan who use the doujutsu Byakugan, once activated large veins channelling chakra also emerge around his eyes. He also has very pale skin considering the warm climate he lives in, and keeps his long dark brown/almost black hair in a lose ponytail. His attire consists of loose black and white robes and traditional black ninja sandals; often he is also seen with a large drawstring bag over one shoulder. His forehead protector rests above his eyes and hides the symbol of his cursed seal (a mark which holds a similar appearance to the manji symbol in Buddhism). Neji is also very slim for someone of his height, although this does allow for more agile movements; important for being able to master the Gentle fist. His expressions are much less animated than many of his comrades; as he has a very firm grasp over his emotions and tends to stay both expressionless and emotionless in most situations. Of course, he is still human and manages to snap like anyone else. His younger self was especially more prone to outbursts of sadness and rage, however, through meditation (and better family relations) Neji has been able to keep his anger further under control, and is more optimistic than his old self too, even managing to smile and laugh with his comrades. Other noticeable traits of his personality include his logical thinking and being able to rationalise things, as well as being highly intelligent. ★ L I K E S: ♥ Meditating ★ D I S L I K E S: ✗ Not being in control ★ E T C E T E R A: Neji was a very happy child who was outspoken and loved spending time with his family, at the time he was too young to understand the concept of the main and branch families, so thought nothing of it and lived a very normal life. That was until he was assigned to the branch house on his cousin’s third birthday, he could see his father’s disdain when they took him away, and that was when Neji began to feel that there was something wrong in the Hyuuga household. But not knowing the truth, meant he wasn’t too concerned at first, even though this meant he would never become the leader of his clan, at the time Neji believed it was a title his ‘cute’ cousin deserved, he enjoyed watching her and his uncle train, Neji picked up on her flaws, but believed she’d overcome them. Neji only began to despise the main house when he saw how much his father hated them, and when Neji saw just how the curse seal worked when his father’s was activated, Neji realised he was fated to a life in that shadows of the main house, subject to control through fear. His uncle’s harsh words told Neji that he couldn’t change fate, and he was destined to a life serving the Main house. At the time a war had broken out between two villages, until they both decided to sign a treaty; and for this representatives from Kumogakure arrived. It was the same day the curse seal was placed upon Neji. That night, Hinata was almost kidnapped by the ambassador from the lightning country, revealing that the intention of the "treaty" was all along to get into the Fire country and acquire the secret of Byakugan. Hiashi (Hinata’s father) detected the intruder and killed him at once, for which Kumogakure requested payback in the form of Hiashi's dead body. That day, Neji's father was sent to his death instead of Hiashi due to the fact he had the curse seal, so when he died his body would not be able to provide secrets into the Buakugan. Since the incident Neji grew up believing that his father was sent against his will to protect the Hyuuga clan's secret bloodline. And his hatred only escalated, especially aimed at Hinata. Since then Neji blamed his cousin for the death of his father, because if she hadn’t been kidnapped his father’s death would’ve happened, and what sickened him even more was the fact she was too weak to take over as Heir, while Neji had inherited a natural talent to harness his bloodline. He now only saw her as weak, and he believed that she would never be able to change herself, just like he couldn’t change his own unwanted fate. However, this all changed on the day he was defeated by Naruto, Neji learnt that no-one’s fate is sealed and people have the power choose their own paths, and people have the power to change themselves. He also learnt that his father had given up his life willingly, he had been able to choose freedom, and thus a new window of insight was opened up to Neji, and he soon began to see the world in a new light. Slowly, but surely he learnt to form friendships with his team mates and with his cousin. No longer did he mock Lee’s nindo, and he spent more time training, knowing that he had the power to change himself and grow stronger. Neji even spent time with Lee at the hospital, helping him through the difficult time after he was defeated by Gaara. Just when things seemed to be looking up Neji, he was confronted by Shikamaru, Naruto, Chouji and Kiba, asking for him to join them on the rescue Sasuke mission. He didn’t know Sasuke all too well, but as a fellow citizen of Konoha, Neji decided to help. He was the second to stay behind and fight one of the sound four. He fought Kidomaru, and in this fight we see how Neji had changed, and how strongly he believes not only in Naruto, but in himself. Neji declares that as a genius he can’t let the people who believe that down, thus risking his life and entering a critical condition. Luckily he managed to pull through and a new side of Neji was born. Since then Neji has continued to try and build better relationships with his own family and train harder thus allowing him to decide his own fate. In the time of Naruto’s training away Neji managed to work up the ranks to Jounin and by the time of Naruto’s return Neji did indeed feel like a changed person. He was able to utilise his new found strength and better team relations when their team were confronted by Kisame (at least they thought it was Kisame, but in actual fact wasn’t the real deal) and helped his comrades out of the water prison technique used upon them, enabling Gai to defeat the lookalike so that they could continue with their mission to bring down the barrier to Akatsuki’s lair. Upon bringing down the barrier Neji was faced with a clone of himself to battle but thankfully both he and his teammates were able to defeat their clones and return to the mission at hand, mainly helping team Kakashi and rescuing the Kazekage. Name: Byakugan Type: kekkei genkei Effect: As a member of the Hyuga clan, Neji possesses the Byakugan, which gives him an almost 360-degree field of vision, save for a small blind spot at the back of the neck. Neji is acutely aware of his blind spot and takes extra caution in keeping it away from opponents as well as paying close attention to it. While the Byakugan naturally has only a 50 meter field of vision, Neji is able to increase the range of its sight several times over by the start of Part II, to around 800 meters. He is noted to have a particularly strong Byakugan in comparison to other members of the clan, perhaps surpassing all of them. Name: Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin Effect: This is a technique that was for forbidden for the branch members of the Hyuga clan to learn but Neji somehow learnt this technique all on his own. By combining both his byakugan and Gentle Fist along with sending a burst of chakra out through his chakra points whilst rotating his body accordingly, Neji can repel almost any attacks made against him. Name: Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms Effect: This jutsu closes off sixty-four specific chakra points (tenketsu) on an opponent's body with the gentle fist, effectively eliminating their ability to use chakra for quite some time and making it quite difficult for them to move. It begins with the closing of two chakra points, followed by four more, then eight, then sixteen, then thirty-two, and then sixty-four strikes. Each set of strikes is done at an increasing pace. Name: Eight Trigrams One Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms Effect: This jutsu is essentially a doubled version of Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms. Like the former, it closes off the opponent's chakra points. Unlike the former, it closes off twice as many (128) at twice the speed. Alternatively, it can be used to hit a great number of targets very quickly. Name: Eight Trigrams Empty Palm Effect: This jutsu is similar in practice to Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin, but has a specific target rather than a general area. To perform it, the user does a palm thrust at an opponent while expelling a large burst of chakra from their palm. This violently pushes the opponent away. The opponent does not need to be within reach of the user for the attack to be effective Name: Eight Trigrams Mountain Crusher Effect: Another focused variation of Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin, the Eight Trigrams Mountain Crusher sends a wave of focused chakra directly towards an opponent, more than enough to shatter rock.
